The place in history
Modern Volos grew rapidly after Thessaly joined the Greek state in 1881, becoming the principal port and industrial center of central Greece. Its streets joined the Pelion villages and Thessalian plain to maritime trade and migration.
For the Soupliotis–Saratsis family, Volos became the meeting point between village origins and a wider world. Here, at Agios Konstantinos, Konstantinos Soupliotis and Archontoula Saratsi married and joined the two family lines before the family journey continued to Québec.

At the Church of Agios Konstantinos in Volos, Konstantinos Soupliotis and Archontoula Saratsi were married. This is the defining place where the paternal Soupliotis line and the maternal Saratsis line came together.
The present stone church was designed by Aristotelis Zachos, founded in 1927, and inaugurated in 1936. Their wedding date is not yet recorded in this archive, while the parish and diocesan marriage registers remain important records to locate.
